# The piano course you actually finish

> A piano theory course you finish: 100 lessons, each with a pass line, a checkpoint closing every stage, and 85 scores to play, checked note by note.

## Questions people ask first

### Do I need a real piano?

Not to start. Reading, theory and ear training all happen in the page — the keyboard and the staff are built in. What genuinely needs an instrument is the hand-mechanics work, and by the time you reach it you will know whether you want to carry on.

### Can I start from nothing?

Yes. The first lesson is about how to sit — the posture that lets you play for an hour without your back hurting. The whole path is written for someone who has never touched a piano and does not read music.

### How much time does it take?

Twenty to thirty minutes a lesson, including the questions and one run at the piece. At a lesson a day the path takes about three months; at three a week, a bit over six. Your progress is on your account, so a break does not cost you anything.

### How much of it is free?

The opening lessons — posture, the three sets of names, beat and note values, the geography of the keyboard, how the staff actually works — need no account at all. Every later stage begins on a free lesson too, and carries a few more on what it turns on: playing hands together, half steps, what a chord is doing, what minor means, major and minor triads. A plan is what opens the playing lessons and the pieces they use; Pro adds the daily practice around the course and the rest of the sheet-music library.

### How does the subscription work, and can I cancel?

Monthly, yearly, or bought outright once. Any free trial on offer is shown on the Pricing page with its length; one that comes with registering asks for no payment details. Cancelling turns off renewal — the period you have already paid for runs to its end rather than being cut short. The exact terms and the refund rules are on the Subscriptions & refunds page.

### Which languages is it in?

Eight: English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Spanish, German, and Brazilian Portuguese — and not only the interface: the lesson text and the sung syllables on the scores are translated too. A lesson appears in a language only once all of it has been translated — a half-translated page is unreadable, and it tells a search engine two different things about what language it is in.
