Sight-reading
Sight-reading exercises written fresh for your level: twenty levels, from five notes under the right hand to both hands in four sharps or flats. Play them at your piano and see which notes were right, drawn on the score. Levels 1 to 3 are free, no account needed.
About sight-reading
Where do the exercises come from?
Your device writes each one when you ask for it, from a table of twenty levels we wrote ourselves: which keys, time signatures, note values and range each level uses. Every measure adds up, and every phrase comes home to the key, so it reads like music rather than random notes.
How does it check my playing?
A MIDI keyboard tells it exactly which keys you pressed. With a microphone, the sound is analyzed on your own device and never uploaded. Either way the result is a count of the notes played right, wrong or missed, drawn on the exercise itself. It is not a grade.
Is anything saved?
No result is saved, because the exercise itself is never stored. The time you spend counts toward your practice record, and the level you choose is remembered on your account, so another device starts there too.
Which levels are free?
Levels 1 to 3 are open to everyone, with or without an account. Levels 4 to 20 are part of Pro.
When should I move up a level?
Whenever you like: the level is yours to choose. When most of the exercises you check at a level are clean at its own tempo, the page mentions that the next level is there. That suggestion is never saved.
Can I choose what the exercises use?
Yes, with Pro: switch the settings from Levels to Custom and choose the hands, keys, time signatures, note values, ledger lines, leaps, accidentals, length and tempo yourself. The settings stay on your device, and a link opens the same settings anywhere.
